Angul: Odisha-based PSU Nalco to shut down its 3 units of Captive Power Plant due to Coal shortage. The management has been operating all its 858 Pots with 15 Ampere low each at high risk.
Nalco is now importing 150 to 200 MW power from state Grid at a cost of Rs 7 per unit, suffering huge loss. Presently, Nalco has a stock of 1.11 lakhs MT imported coal. But Nalco can use it along with local coal.
Due to heavy rain and other system failure, Nalco fail to avail the required 16,000MT coal daily from MCL. From August till date, there has been shortfall of 53,000 MT of coal supply from MCL to Nalco. Every day we are receiving about 4,000 MT less coal from MCL, said Nalco offcials. Nalco has been receiving roughly that amount of coal from MCL.
