Bhubaneswar: The Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) celebrated the 66th Independence Day here with MD RS Sharma hoisting the Tricolour at the OP Jindal School. JSPL honoured 14 students of OP Jindal School, including five with scholarship for two years and nine with cash award for scoring more than 80 per cent marks in the Board examination.
Jindal Vidyapith held a programme at the JSPL R&R Colony with cooperation of the residents. JSPL VP Prashant Kumar Hota unfurled the Tricolour. About 10,000 schoolchildren were given national flags, flag pins and wrist bands with message from CMD Jindal. ED (Projects) DK Saraogi read out the message of CMD Naveen Jindal.
In the evening, a programme was held for labourers in which motivational speeches were rendered by the Brahmakumaris Asmit and Minati. A film on cancer was screened for awareness about the harmful effects of gutkha, cigarette and alcohol consumption.
