Report by OD bureau, Paradeep: A unique project, “SUSTHA BALIKA”, is launched to day at NABAJYOTI GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL, BISWALI under Kujanga Block in Jagatsinghpur district. Smt Saroja Gandhi, President, Jyoti Ladies Club of IFFCO, inaugurated this novel project today in the Girls High School Premises in presence of the School Authority and Local people of village Biswali and members of Jyoti Ladies Club. While inaugurating the project, Sri Gandhi informed that, this project has been sponsored by IFFCO, Paradeep Unit in association with Jyoti Ladies Club of IFFFCO.
It will make periodical health check ups of school going girls in regular interval with a team of doctors and medicos. It will also conduct some essential pathological tests and find out their deficiencies if any. It will also provide free medicines as well as vitamins & tonics etc. which are essential for maintaining good health of these girls. It will try to eradicate malnutrition and help boost to improve their health status & establish their healthy lives in the society.
This unique project is aimed to establish the myth “Health is Wealth” amongst the School going Girls in the society in the rural areas of the state of Odisha. Initially, this project has selected Nabajyoti Girls High School, Biswali and it will be extended to other Girls High Schools in due course of time.
As many as 120 girl students of Navajyoti Girls High School reading in Classes from VIII to X were examined today and given Health Cards. Blood Groupings were also conducted. Medicines & vitamins worth Rs1,00,000/- were distributed to these girls. The Camp was conducted by Dr. Puspa Mohanty, DGM (Medical & HS) and her team of Doctors assisted by medical staff of IFFCO Hospital.
While commending the launch of this project Sustha Balika , by IFFCO, Smt Gandhi further told that, it will address the problems of anemia, mostly prevalent among the young and adolescent school girls of the area.
President of Jyoti Ladies Club, Smt Saroja Gandhi thanked the school Authority for their active support & cooperation for successful operation of this medical camp. All members of the Jyoti Ladies Club of IFFCO were present on the occasion and took active part in helping hands to the medical team. She also told that more schools will be covered under this scheme of Medical Check ups in regular intervals so as to ensure success of this newly launched project of IFFCO Paradeep Unit.
