Report by Ananta Prasad, Bhubaneswar: "Subsidising is not our priority rather we will create sustainability in Odisha" said Aditya Puri, Managing Director of HDFC Bank here in Bhubaneswar. Creating SHGs and through microfinance and other means we will be able to bring sustainable development. While addressing to media in his first ever Odisha Trip Mr. Puri briefed about their upcoming plans for the state.
Speaking on his meeting with the Chief Minister Mr. Nabin Patnaik, he vowed at the development prospective of the popular CM. According to him CM asked for financial inclusion in the state. HDFC is working on micro finance activities by which 10 million people will be benefitted. He also informed media that with the special mention by the CM, HDFC will be setting up processing centre for creating employment opportunity in the state.
Mr. Puri also praised the clean govt and showed his satisfaction for the growth speed of the state in Tourism, Mining, IT and service sector. He added that his bank has also employed all local people in all its branches. Though it has 61 branches in the state but by end of this financial year there will be 100 branches across the state, which includes one proposed branch in Malkangiri district.
In odisha HDFC bank started its operation in 2001 with its first branch at Bhubaneswar. Now it has 61 branches in 25 districts of the state. Next month they will set up 11 new branches. It is worth mentioning that by end of December HDFC will have 75% of all its branches in the rural and semi urban areas to strengthen their financial stability.
