Bhubaneswar: Energy minister Arun Kumar Sahu today said that about nine independent power producers (IPPs) will commission their projects by 2013-14.
The nine IPPs have promised to start power production by 2013-14, he told reporters after conducting a review meeting here on the progress and performance of the power producers in the state at the State Secretariat here.
The state government has signed 29 MoUs with IPPs of which Sterlite Energy and Arati Power have started power production.
The companies which will operationalise their power plants are GMR Kamalaga Ltd, Jindal India Thermal Power Ltd, Monnet Power Company Ltd, Lanco Babandh Power Ltd, CESC Ltd, KVK Nilachal Power Ltd, Ind Barath (Utkal) Energy Ltd and Maa Durga Thermal Power Company Ltd.
The minister said that the private power companies have been asked to furnish details about their CSR activities, plantation drive, local employment and implementation of Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) policy on the basis of which the department will take next course of action on the companies.
