Bhubaneswar: Australian High Commissioner and senior Rio Tinto official to meet Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday. Australian High Commissioner Peter Varghese, who is scheduled to arrive here on a three-day visit to the State, has sought an appointment with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Chief Secretary BK Patnaik. He is likely to meet the Chief Minister on Friday.
The High Commissioner will be accompanied by Chief Executive, Iron Ore, Rio Tinto, Sam Walsh. It should be noted that the State-owned Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has rejected a 17-year-old joint venture (JV) with Rio Tinto terming it as not being lucrative, the Australian mining major is keen to revive the Rs11,000-crore pact.
