Bhubaneswar: Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallick on Friday said he would make efforts for reopening of the mines that have been closed in Sukinda region and other parts of the State.
“I will do whatever necessary for reopening of mines that have been closed since long due to various reasons. I personally feel that once the mines reopen, hundreds of workers will again be engaged in the mining activities and be able to earn their bread,” Mallick told, while addressing a gathering at Kalipani near Sukinda.
Earlier, Mallick and Sukinda BJD MLA Priti Ranjan Ghadai were given a rousing felicitation at Kaliapani jointly by the Sukinda Minerals Truck Owners Association and Sukinda Region Chromite Labour Union on the occasion.
The Minister said he was aware of the problems faced by the mines workers and would take appropriate steps to address their concerns.
