Report by Kanhu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: Mounting pressure from anti liquor outfits and residents civil administration had ordered to shut down the licensed liquor shop at Mundala village under Naugaon block one month ago but murmurs are flying thick that the close down shop likely be reopened in coming days, protesting the event hundreds of villagers and local anti liquor outfits on Friday had convened a meeting opposing the endeavor and threatened if district administration allowed reopening of the shop agitation would be intensified in coming days.
The liquor opponents fumed in the meeting that legally it is incorrect giving license to Mundala liquor shop which locates just 50 meters from locally fame Alanahat high school, locals had protested when the liquor shop was started in the year 2008 but their pleas had ignored, but a firing incident occurred at the liquor shop on 15 June for which a local youth Ashok Sethy sustained bullet injuries pushed the public anger to restart its old liquor shop closure agitation and finally honoring public sentiments administration slapped closure notice last month. But news is spreading thick that administration moves for reopening of the alleged liquor shop so we opposed the move and in this regard we have apprised district collector if they ignored our plea would be certainly thwarted by public agitation in coming days, informed Rabindra Rout , Sarapanch Ghodansha Panchayat.
