Report by Priyabrata Nayak; Bhubaneswar: The first session of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose All India institute of medical science (AIIMS) will start before end of September this year. The last date for admission is scheduled for 10th of this month for total 50 seats and about eight students already enrolled in the first batch of MBBS. Newly appointed State health and family welfare minister Dr Damodar Rout reviewed the progress of AIIMS project here on Monday.
While senior cardiologist Dr Ashok mohapatra has been appointed as the director of AIIMS, appointment of 24 faculty members also done. Among these faculty members seven faculties already joined here and rest of them going to join very soon here. Minister Dr Rout said, now 75 percent of construction of the medical college has been completed and construction work of 987 bedded hospital is 55 percent complete.
As the hostel for students and faculties is not ready, on request of the central government we have made arrangement of the alternative accommodation for them. So that students need not go to other AIIMS to attend class. The electricity and water supply will start this week, he added. Health minister asked the authorities in charge of construction work, to finish it on priority basis.
He also instructs the concerned divisional forest officer to expedite the plantation work in periphery of AIIMS. In this review meeting commissioner cum secretary of H&FW department Pradipta kumar mohapatra, Khurda collector Rupa mishra, BMC commissioner Sanjib mishra, Bhubaneswar ADM Hari ballav mishra and other senior officials were present.
