Report by Akshya Rout; Keonjhar: Triveni Earth Movers Limited has a made a significant contribution in bringing medical facilities to the door steps of the tribal population of Keonjhar. It operates a clinic in Joda managed by fully qualified doctors and medical staff. It has a well equipped laboratory to back its medical team. It boasts of latest testing equipments which is not available with anyone else in the district.

“Our main aim is to provide basic medical facilities at the door steps of the tribal in this district,” said B pravakaran  director of the company. The Quantitative Buffy Coat (QBC) malaria test can detect parasites even when their count in the blood is extremely low.

Among other facilities, the Thyroid testing machine can give a report in under twenty minutes and the Fully Automatic Bio Chemistry Analyses can carry out 100 tests in one hour.

State of art ‘Mobile Care Unit’ is always on standby to take care of medical emergencies in remote areas. The unit comes in handy for timely evacuation of critical patients to specialist hospitals at a distance of three hundred and fifty kilometers in Bhubaneswar, as was done for one S Mishra, a police officer at Bambari who was injure at the line of duty on April 10 2011.

In 2009, prompt action by Thriveni saved scores of lives during an outbreak of cholera in Guali. Thriveni medical team arrived on the spot first. The medical team has treated and evacuated 570 patients and continued to supply potable water till district administration took over.

Likewise, in September 2011, it reacted on war footing to a call at night from the local elders of Jadgaon village of Bhadrasahi Pachayat. The village was reeling under an outbreak of gastroenteritis which had already claimed three lives.

“Our team of doctors and paramedic staff regularly move out to organize medical camps in such areas. One such camp which concluded recently was dedicated towards Detection of Breast Cancer and Diabetes. A special team of volunteers associated with M K C Trust, sponsored by Thriveni camped in various parts of Joda block with the vehicle mounted Mammography machine under the project “Roko Cancer”,” added Mallick.
