Balangir: Protesting against the step-motherly attitude of the state government for not initiating any effort to set up a railway wagon factory at Kantabanji, the BJP today staged rail roko at Kantabanji railway station disrupting rail traffic for more than two hours.
The agitators later handed over a charter of demands to the Additional Divisional Engineer, Sambalpur Railway Division Arun Kumar Mohapatra.
Briefing newsmen on the occasion, BJP State Secretary Ajay Das said that since the railway department has more than 700 acres of land in Kantabanji, there would be no problem in setting up a wagon factory which would employ local people in large numbers.
We would continue to fight till the wagon factory comes up at Kantabanji. The party would paralyse the functioning of East Coast Railway office in Bhubaneswar also if the demands are not met at the earliest, Das added.
