Report by Akshya Rout; Jajpur: Police arrested six criminals on Sunday in Kaliapani of Jajpur district on the charges of their involvements in many truck and other vehicle theft cases in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Paradip and other parts of the state and other states. Police also seized Rs12000 ,a stolen truck and four mobile phones said Raisen Murmu the police officer of Kaliapani police station.
All the arrested persons have been identified as Sarbeswar Sahoo( 22) of Jaganathsahi under Sukinda police station , Susanta Behura( 22) of village Paiksahi under Sukinda police station, , Satyajit Mohanty of Bramahanasahi, Bramahanda Sahoo( 42) of Kalindrabad, S.K. Sabir( 28)of village m Karadapalli and Ramesh Dikhit( 39) of villageTrilochanapada . Police suspect the involvement of many garage owners, officials state transport corporation , regional transport officials and other gang members in many truck theft cases. All the arrested criminals and others were looting trucks on the national highway by brandishing revolvers to the drivers and helpers. In some garages , they easily change the number plates , chassis numbers and colours of the trucks and other vehicles in clear nexus with the garage owners and sold many trucks to the people of West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh, added the police officer.
The arrested gang members lifted many vehicles in the state and sold at a throw away prices to many persons. Some truck owners are also hand-in-glove with the arrested persons, added the police officer. All the arrested criminals were booked under section- 395, 323, 307, 399, 402 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.
