Odisha: “Mala Janha” rescreened with emotions on the eve of 75th anniversary of Ollywood

Report by Ananta Prasad; Bhubaneswar: It was a superb occasion to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Odia cinema. With the presence of both veteran and the classic youngsters all were silent for the black & white movie of late sixties. “Mala Janha”. With the innocent acting of debutant actress legendary Jharana Dash and classical music of Akhaya Mohanty where the melodious voice of Pranab Pattanaik & Nandita Ghosh the Idcol auditorium here at BBSR calmed down with emotions.

The Film Journalists forum celebrated the 75th year Anniversary of classic odia cinema in the IDCOL Auditorium here at BBSR. The emblem and one broacher of Mala Janha was inaugurated on the very occasion. FJF felicitated all those related with this milestone movie Mala Janha. Actress Jharana Dash, Lyricist Binodini Devi, Singer Pranab Pattanaik, and the man behind the screen who struggled a lot for retrieving this movie Mr. Mahendra Mishra received the token of love from the present cine stars of Odia film industry. A huge audience witnessed the screening till late night and this revealed the level of classic odia cinema which are still unrecovered. Foroum will bring such type of classic odia cinema in future says Mr. Surya Deo of FJF.

It was worth mentioning here that Mala Janha was the recipient of Presidential Silver Medal in 1965 in the Category of best regional cinema. It was a moment when tears rolled down from the eyes of Jharana Dash, while receiving award who said that it was her dream to see the movie screened once again and her dream came into truth.

Veteran cine artist Sarat pujari, Anama Sahoo, Narayan Prasad singh, Sidhhant Mohapatra and many known faces witnessed the rescreening of the movie. The occasion was started by Mr. Anama Sahoo & Amiya Pattanaik with lightening the lamp before the Photoof  legendary cine personality and maker of first odia Cinema ‘Sita Vivah’ Shri Mohan Sunder DevGoswami. The whole event was anchored and presented indifferently by a new generation face & actor of Odia cinema Samaresh.
