Report by Ashok Palit, Bhubaneswar: The annual awards instituted by the four-decade-old Odia film magazine Banichitra, being published from Bhubaneswar, were presented during the magazine's 44th annual festival hosted at Rabindra Mandap here on 9th ,June2012.

Legendary actor Prasant Nanda was conferred Late Dhira Biswal Memorial honour, while Prafulla Kar and Bijay Mohanty conferred  for lifetime contribution to odia  cinema. Among 62  others who were felicitated on the occasion for their achievements were While Balunga Toka  was adjudged best popular  film, Sanjay Nayak was awarded best director for the film Chhatire Lekchi tori Naa.

Ollywood's Anubhav Mohanty predictably walked away with the best actor award while Varsha Priyadarshini emerged best actress. Similarly, acclaimed actors Sabyasachi Mishra , Meenaketan  and Snigidha  Mohanty were conferred . The other awardees included Hara Patnaik,Raicharan Das and several  others in special category.

Eminent film personalities Prashant Nanda . Finance Minister P.C.Ghadei, Amiya Patnaik were special guests for the event who presented the honour, awards and felicitations. Film archivist Bapu Lenka were felicitated on the occasion ,Banichitra editor Parikshita Jena welcomed. The award presentation ceremony was followed by a colourful concert of dance and music Colorful concert. This award function seems to be present toffee every one instead of trophy.
