Report by Rashmi r Parida; Bhbubaneswar: Acclaimed film producer Nila Madhab Panda has initiates 'green cinema' production for Children. The name of the project is 'The Green Screen Lab for Children’s Cinema-2012. Green Screen Lab to be held from August 10-20, 2012 in KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Panda has takes this initiative with London-based Performing Arts Labs (PAL). The Green Screen Lab 2012, a joint venture between Eleeanora Images Pvt Ltd and PAL
The Green Screen Lab is supported by the Children's Film Society of India, Goethe Institute, Commonwealth Foundation, the Royal Netherlands Embassy and private donations.
The Lab is looking for 18 talented writers to develop original scripts ready for pre-production; with stories which are relevant to the lives and experiences of children in the Indian sub-continent today, and which also have the potential to compete in international markets.
There will be intensive group and one to one sessions with Lab mentors, a resident ensemble of Indian actors and experienced directors, advice on international children’s film production, marketing and distribution from visiting guest industry mentors from India and Europe and screenings and discussions of international prize-winning family films at the Lab.
Six months further support from mentors, after the residential Lab, will be provided via e-mail and skype, including training for writers and producers to pitch projects to potential producers in India and in Europe.
Further development funding will be awarded to selected projects, which may include support to attend international pitching events; eg. to producers in the UK hosted by Creative England and at European children’s film festivals such as Cinekid in The Netherlands.
Scripts can be at any stage of development. There is special reservation for candidates from North east region. Deadline for receipt of applications is July 10th, 2012. Selected applicants will be announced by July 25th, 2012.
