Report by Saumya Parida; New Delhi: EK THA TIGER opened to a tumultuous response from the audience on Independence Day and has continued with its dream run at the box office. The film released across 3300 screens domestically. With the highest first day opening figure of 32.93 crores, the Net Box Office Collections have crossed 100 crores in just 5 days.
EK THA TIGER stars Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The film has been Directed by Kabir Khan and Produced by Aditya Chopra and is running successfully in theatres worldwide.
Ek Tha Tiger released worldwide on August 15, the Independence day of India. It was screened in 3300 screens over the country, marking the largest domestic release for a Bollywood film. Around 60 percent of the first weekend sales received an advanced booking prior to the release. Selected multiplexes increased the ticket prices of the film above the normal rate.
Ek Tha Tiger had a bumper opening, with 100% occupancy at both multiplexes and single screens and it has shattered records all over by recording capacity on the widest release ever and collected around 31.93 crore (US$5.78 million) on its first day. Its a 40% jump from the previous record which was 22 crore (US$3.98 million) nett approx set by Agneepath (2012).[64][65] It fell in the single screens across India on its second day and collected around 14.50 crore (US$2.62 million).
Ek Tha Tiger fell further on its third day and collected around 12.12 crore (US$2.19 million) thus taken its three days total to 57.85 crore (US$10.47 million) which is a new record for the weekend. The film showed good growth on Saturday an Sunday and collected a huge 94.12 crore (US$17.04 million) in its extended five days weekend.
