Report by Ashok Palit; Bhubaneswar: Shooting of new Hindi movie “Chauranga” will start in Odisha if everything falls in right place. Onir, who was supposed to shoot Chauranga in Jharkhand, is now thinking of shifting the location of the movie to Odisha .
If the Odisha government gives assistance, he would be happy to shoot Chauranga here as the landscape suits the story. The story is relevant to Orissa too. He also met chief minister Naveen Patnaik to discuss about this matter alongwith Nila Madhav Panda. Nila had insisted that Onir should consider shooting in Odisha. It is the debut feature film of Indian writer-director Bikas Ranjan Mishra, to be produced by Onir and Sanjay Suri.
Speaking more about Chauranga, Onir said, "Chauranga is primarily a love story between a 14 year old Dalit boy and a 15 year old upper class girl in a village and is based on a real life incident which happened in 2008. The script by Bikas Mishra has already won Incredible India award at the Goa Film Bazaar and another award at Goteborg Film Festival in Sweden. The cast of the film is mostly comprised of newcomers.
