Thakurani Yatra from Berhampur to commence on April 8

Report by Manoj k Dash; Berhampur: The famous biannual Thakurani Yatra of Berhampur is all set to commence from April 8, which will continue till May 4.

As per the tradition, the Yatra is held in the city bi-annually. According to the ritual, the Shubhakunti has been installed at

after the Aagyanmala was brought from the main temple of Budhi Thakurani on Friday night.

P Durgaprasada Desibehera, along with the members of his community and local people, went to the sanctum sanctorum of Budhi Thakurani on Friday night. After performing the puja, the Aagyanmala was taken on a public procession to

where the Subhakhunti was installed as a harbinger of the famous Thakurani Yatra which is held in the month of Chaitra as per tradition, according to the Oriya calendar.

The priest of Desibehera’s community along with the members of the Puja Committee had a meeting and decided to observe the much-awaited Yatra from April 8 to May 4.
