Report by Orissadiary correspondent; New Delhi: Like every year, this year also Orissa Sanskrutika Parishad, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi celebrated Utkal Diwas 2009. The formal meeting was presided over by Prof. Arun Mohanty. Dr. Subhakant Behera, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India and Sri Praful Prusty, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax Department, Govt. of India blessed the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively. Sri Shakti Prasad Srichandan delivered the introductory speech while Dr Mahesh Debata introduced guests to the audience. Treasurer Sri Mahir Tanaya Das read out the Annual Report and the meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks by the convener Sri Brundaban Mishra. Some illustrious senior students like Sri Subrata Kumar Behera, Sri Debendra Mahalik, Smt Anindita Pujari and Sri Sarada Prasanna Das were honoured with ‘Pujya Puja Samman’. The formal meeting was followed by a mesmerizing cultural programme which included Odissi dance by renowned Odissi exponent Sushree Kalyani Behera and troupe; hilarious drama ‘Thenga Stuti’, Sambalpuri dance  and old melodious Oriya numbers by students like Sipra, Rajat, Sonali, Jajneswar, Satya, Sarita, Sandeep, Surya, Arindam, Santosh, Prashant, Pradeep, Soma, Subhojit, Gopal, Shakti, Sarada, Biswa, Madan and Deepak. The guests were served with an Oriya dinner at the end of the programme. This programme was not only an opportunity to showcase the rich culture of Orissa but also a get together of teachers, students, alumni and guests. The programme was managed by the Joint Convener Sri Siddharth Pradhan, Sri Santosh Das, Sri Narendra Jena and Sri Sambhunath Nandi.
