A National Physiotherapy Conference PHYSIOSPARK-20101 was organized by College of physiotherapy, Neelachal Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar at ICAI Bhavan, Bhubaneswar today i.e. 27th Feb, 2010. This national Physiotherapy Conference was inaugurated by Prof (Dr.) Sanjay Das, Director, SVNIRTAR, Chairman Mr.Damodar Pati, NIMS, Bhubaneswar gave the welcome address & introduced the guests and gave a explicit note on the essence of organising Physiospark-2010.
And resource person Dr. Pabir Ku. Mohanty, dean college of Physiotherapy, NIMS presided the conference & gave the key note address. Among the resource person Prof (Dr.) Sanjaya Das, professor in Orthopaedics presented his topic on Childhood disability & its management. Prof (Dr.) Tanmaya Mohanty, professor in Orthopaedics , MKCG Medical College presented his topic Bone heals on its own. Dr. P.P.Mohanty, professor in Physiotherapy, SVNIRTAR gave his presentation on Lowback pain & its advance Physiotherapy management.
Prof Umasankar Mohanty, president of Manual Therapy Foundation of India from Mangalore gave his presentation on cervical dysfunction: Manual therapy Perspective. Prof. Amitav Rath Prof in Neurolrogy, NIMS presented the topic on Physiotherapy for stroke patients, its acute & maintenance Physiotherapy. Prof(Dr.) A. K.Roy, Professor in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology,KIMS gave a topic on Drug Abuse. Prof (Dr.) R.Panigrahi , Professor in Orthopaedics,NIMS gaves his topic on Arthoscopic ACL reconstruction & its rehabilitation. Prof (Dr.) Kirti Sundar Sahu presented his topic on Computer related injuries(CRI): An E-avatar of Repetitive Strain injury(RSI).
In this National Physiotherapy conference 12 numbers of Physiotherapy Colleges & Hospitals participated and presented their paper. Among them the prominent institutes who participatewd are SVNIRTAR, Olatpur, Cuttack, NIOH, Kolkata, college of Physiotherapy, NIMS, bhubaneswar, Hi-Tech College of Physiotherapy, Bhubaneswar, institute of health sciences, Buhbaneswar, chjakra Dhara Institute of Rehabilitation studeies, Bhubaneswar, SUM College of Physiotherapy, Bhubaneswar Naidu College of physiotherapy, Hyderabad.
In this Conference the resource persons are emphasized on the role of the Govt. in recognizing the Physiotherapy practiconers for giving registration under clinical establishment act as a result quacks are encouraged to practice in this sector which damages, denigrates the ethics of Physiotherapy practice. Further in this Conference it was unanimously expressed by all that Physiotherapy & its practice is at cross road due to the apathy of Govt. Though the Physiotherapists are required in large numbers for the treatment of patients in Physiotherapy in Orthopedics, Neurology, cardiology, Pediatric conditions but the same is not facilitated in the Govt. sector Hospitals.
