Report by OD bureau; Paradeep: 'World Environment Day" was Celebrated in IFFCO Paradeep Unit on  5th June'2012. This years theme was "Green economy , does it include you ?" . In the morning a massive Tree Plantation programme was inaugurated by Unit Head Sri S.K. Gandhi, Sr. General Manager of Paradeep Unit in side IFFCO Town Ship (Surinder Jakhar Nagar). 

More than 1000 saplings of fruit bearing trees like mango, jack fruit, amla, jamun and  pomegranate etc. were planted in side town ship & factory premises through out the day long programme which were arranged on this occasion. Smt. Saroj Gandhi along with ladies of all Sr. Officers were also participated and planted saplings. All Sr. Officers like Mr AK Sinha,  GM,  Mr AK Panda, GM, Mr PV Narayana, GM, Mr BD Yadav, President IFFCO Officers Association, Mr LB Singh, Secretary, IFFCO Emplyees Union  etc. were present on the occasion and participated in this massive plantation drive.

On this Occasion Sri Gandhi, expressed that  IFFCO, Paradeep Unit has accepted the challenge of Environmental protection, leading to "Green House Gas reduction" & contributing for future generation to slow down the Global warming by CO2 recovery from flue gases. He informed that IFFCO has accepted  Energy reduction  measures, which ultimately leads to burning of less fossil fuels in Boilers (Coal/Natural gas etc) there by reducing less green House gases. IFFCO has undertaken major heat recovery unit project in SAP Plant which will reduce carbon emission further.

At  Paradeep Unit,  we have already  installed  Solar Street lights, striving for Green Building concept means using less power consuming bulbs for lighting, installation of Solar Cookers, minimum use of vehicles for Plant rounds etc. Our employees are also gearing up to reduce Power & Petrol consumption by using public transport, use of Cycles etc.

For general awareness to all person working at Paradeep Unit Banners & Posters are also being displayed .The theme of this years world Environment day is "Green economy , does it include you ?" .

For general awareness of employees & their family members various competitions like Painting competition and Slogan  competitions has been arranged.

It may be recalled that last year also IFFCO - Paradeep Unit won "National Energy Conservation Award 2010 along with  Certificate of Merit" for its  significant contribution  towards Energy Conservation in Fertilizer Sector from the Honorable Union Minister of Power.

Besides, IFFCO - Paradeep Unit also received  "11th Global Greentech Environment Excellence Award 2010 - Silver" for its outstanding achievement in Environment Management in Fertilizer Sector.

It may be informed that  IFFCO has successfully contributed for an  Avenue Plantation works done on both sides of  Jagatsinghpur  Kandarpur Road in the Jagatsinghpur district.
During the year 2011-12, the unit has made a wonderful performance in the history of IFFCO by achieving an all time high production of 18.41 lakh tonnes of fertilizers, despite the instability in international price of raw materials.

Shri Gandhi also informed  that besides production Environment & Safety is given top most priority    in Paradeep Unit.

Mr PH Patel, JGM (Environment & Pollution Control) coordinated this day long programme .
