Report by Saumya Parida; Bhubaneswar: The 3rd and the concluding evening of Samakala, the contemporary dance festival featured some brilliant performances by the artistes of Rhythmosaic Dance Company choreographed and directed by the young and talented couple Dr. Mitul Sengupta & Ronnie Shambik Ghose and internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Smt. Tanusree Shankar and Group from Kolkata.
Tanusree Shankar’s production depicts a flowing rhythmic and spiritual journey of the man through the ages from the bondage of ignorance to the freedom of knowledge and self realization. Based on the only poem “The Child” written originally in English by Rabindanath Tagore, showcases how the hope and faith though transient yet carries the child through to enlightenment and to the newness of life for his innocence and simplicity.
The White, the colour eptomizing truth, purity and enigma symbolizes the life showcasing emotions captured in numerous fragments on a Canvas. It is like an ocean as interpreted otherwise concealing innumerable mysteries art treasures within but becoming turbulent and colourful at times.
The 3-day festival, first ever organised by the OSNA under the auspices of the Department of Tourism & Culture witnessed overwhelming response from the art-conoisseures of the city.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Shri Prafulla Samal, Hon’ble Minister, Tourism & Culture, Shri Ashok Kumar Tripathy, IAS, Principal Secrertary, Tourism & Culture, Shri Sushil Kumar Das, Director, Culture, Guru Ramhari Das, Chief Executive, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre, Shri Sarat Pujari, President, OSNA, Smt. Aruna Mohanty, Vice President, OSNA and Shri Chitta Ranjan Mallia, Secretary, OSNA. The programme was compered by Dr. Mrutyunjaya Rath and Nazia Allam.
