Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: While a number of organisations in Bhubaneswar celebrated Rajo festival with pomp and ceremony, Utkal Mahila Samiti, a premier women's organisation in the State, affiliated to National Federation of Indian Women ( NFIW) founded by eminent freedom fighter Aruna AsafAli and her colleagues, celebrated Rajo with traditional glamour and added charity to it.
The celebration held at Kasturaba Nari Mahal had an illustrious chief guest, Bishnu Pada Sethi, I.A.S., Director of Census, Orissa, who is a great scholar on Odissi religion and culture and an established English poet also. Other guests of honour were senior media person Prasanta Patnaik, Sandhya Mohapatra, Secretary of Utkal Mahila Samiti, Cuttack, Seema Bahinipati noted woman leader and social activist, Chandraprava Patnaik, Secretary of the organisation highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Odisha and importance of Rajo in the socio-cultural life of the people Shakuntala Patnaik presided,
Chandraprava Patnaik announced in the meeting about the social activities of the Samiti and handed over cash for undergoing plastic surgery for a burn victim, whose upper part body was burnt allegedly at her in-law's place. Patnaik stated that they have already spoken to Dr. Jayanta Dash , Professor and Head of Plastic Surgery Department of Sum Hospitals , Bhubaneswar to perform the surgery. Dr Dash hasassured to undertake the treatment at the at the minimum possible expenditure.
The programme was followed by attractive cultural programme which included Mahari Dance by Chandrika Rana and group from Puri, Dalkhai Dance by Karisma and friends, solo dance by Bounty and Nupur stunned the audience.
Rahul Dhal, Ayush Patnaik, Manisha and a number of young tallents were reqarded by the organisers.
