Dhenkanal: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication here, in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organisation under the Union Ministry of Science and Technology, organised a lecture series as part of celebrations of the birth centenary of Nobel laureate SC Chandrasekhar, the 125th birth anniversary of the great mathematician Srinivas Ramanujan and the National Mathematical Year 2012.

Attending the meting as a resource person, Director of Birla Planetarium of Jaipur, Sandeep Bhattacharya, spoke on the research works going on to unveil the mystery of the universe and the use of telescope to know the position of the stars in the sky.

Former State Pollution Control Board Director Madhab Chandra Dash laid stress on development of qualitative education in India. The meeting was presided over by IIMC chief Dr Mrinal Chatterjee. A documentary film on famous astronomer Samanta Chandrasekhar was also exhibited on the occasion.
