Report by OD bureau; New Delhi: Pattita Pawan Kala Niketan presented Shraddhanjali on Saturday the fourth of August a ( a homage to Guruji Shri Pravash Kumar Mohanty) under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture at India International Centre ,40 Max Mueller Marg New Delhi.
Guru Mayadhar Raut - the light of Odissi Dance and the living legend of The Odissi Hall of Fame was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Guruji Pravash Mohanty's work lives on in his students - teachers and performers alike - and in his compositions. The Mohanty lineage (consisting of Santosh Mohanty, Prakash Mohanty, Pushpanjali Mohanty , Rajni Kant Mohanty alongwith Sangeeta Mohanty paid a Shraddhanjali to the Founder Guru Late Shri Pravash Mohanty. After an invocation to the Gurus, the group presented Bhadrakali ashtak preceded by Suryashtak and Pallavi. Guru Pitambar Biswal's Suravi was a reminder that Odissi would be a conglomeration of tradition and individual talent.
The function saw the presence of doyens of Odissi, including Sharon Lowen, Geeta Mahalik . A souvenir was released on the occasion. Patita Pawan Kala Niketan through this festival invoked the Gurus of Yore and touched the lineage of Gurus in Odissi by portraying the Deba Prasad Style.
The festival brought home the message that the Spirit of the Guru is the one and only soul that one can solely commit to at Patita Pawan Kala Niketan and this was widely appreciated by luminaries Sharon Lowen and Geeta Mahalik .
