Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: Today at IDCOL auditorium ORRA (Odisha Rural Reconstitution Association) organized a State wide campaign cum Mahasabha on Forest Rights Act-2006. It was a call to implement the FRA 2006 in almost all Tribal Districts of Odisha. The Executive Director of ORRA Dr. Smita Sucharita Nayak, emphasized on non-timber or minor forest produce and role of OFDC & TDCC. They should be the facilitators and not more business people suppressing the tribal livelihood.
They are not the labourers but the owners of the forest land. The officials deviating from the FRA 2006 must be penalized for their mistakes. Dr. Damodar Rout emphasized on the officials in charge of implementation of FRA 2006. Prasad Harichandan emphasized on reduction of Industries in the tribal forest areas. He said that they are simple and innocent and community rights must be implemented properly in the tribal areas.
Mr. Sovakar Behera emphasized on the fact that FRA is meaningless for the forest dwellers because it is their own property from time immemorial, Mr. Saturghna Palatasingh emphasize on forests and peoples livelihood. This programme was made successful by the united effort of Mr. Hemant Behera, Mr. Kabi Champati, Mr. Hemant Kumar Nayak, Miss Mausmi, Sri Ashok Hota, Miss Salima Rout, Jayanti & Mamata.
