Report by OD bureau; Sydney: Sydney-based Odissi Dance & Music director Nirmal Jena and Pratibha Jena Singh (artistic director, Delhi-based Nrityashilp), son and daughter of the Late Guru Surendra Nath Jena (Delhi, India), present poignant and soul stirring Odissi dance and music at the Monash University Clayton Campus on 29 and 30 September 2012.
Intensely Soul is the first collaboration by this brother and sister duo outside of India. Their presentation seeks to inspire dialogue and reflections on the arts as: (a) pathways to creativity and contributing to artistic innovation in Australia; (b) avenues for educating and building ‘inner’ resilience; and (c) expressions of the wisdom inherent in diverse traditions and cultures that need to be integrated with contemporary living. 2012 National Tour in Melbourne
