Report by Orissadiary correspondent; New Delhi: Orissa Sanskrutika Parishad (OSP), a cultural group of Oriya students at JNU, New Delhi organized Ganesh Puja with high spirits and spiritual candour. On the auspicious occasion of the 'Ganesh Chaturthi' this jubilant celebration in the premises of the J.N.U campus saw an encouraging response both from Oriya and non- Oriya students.
Many alumnus, current students and faculty members of JNU joined OSP on this occasion of offering of seva and bhakti to the Lord Gananayaka. All devotees participated in the puja rituals of havan, pushpanjali, prasad and tying of sacred thread.
OSP convenor Mr. Brundaban Mishra carried the rituals as the 'karta' (head). Some of the other prominent students who facilitated the conduct of this prominent annual festival were Santosh Das, Sambhunath Nandi, Siddharth Pradhan, Mihir Tanya Das, Subrat Rath, Pyari Mohan Maharana, Chinmoy Maharana, Gayatri Panda and Sipra Sagarika.
The puja was followed by a grand feast with typical Oriya dishes such as traditional 'dalma', 'bhata', 'saga badi' and 'khata'. This was highly appreciated and enjoyed by the JNU community. The whole programme was well coordinated and directed by the President and Vice President of OSP; Dr. Arun Mohanty and Dr. Mahesh Devata respectively. Mrs. Namita Mohanty also actively participated in the preparation of the event.
For years, OSP functions have brought all Oriyas together under one roof and have played a pivotal role in the life of Oriya students in JNU campus. JNU is a premier national university with students from all parts of the country.
