Mumbai: Nuakhai Bhetghat, Mumbai - 2010 was celebrated at the Supremo Activity Centre of Matoshri Sports Complex in Andheri suburban district of Mumbai by  Paschim Odisha Parivaar - Mumbai (POP-Mumbai) with lots of enthusiasm on Sunday the 19th September,2010. The function started with offering Puja to Maa Samaleswari by senior lady members of the organisation with chanting of devi mantras by Pandit Shri Champak Tripathy. Later on people present in the Nuakhai Bhetghat had prasad (khiri made of new rice & manda pitha) and greeted each other with Nuakhai Juhar.

Meritious students excelled in various examinations & competitions were feliciated with certificate and prizes. A quiz on western odisha was organised and prizes were given to the successful participants.

Ms.Arpita from Rourkela, an upcoming singer of Bollywood, sang few numbers from hindi movie, few oriya bhajans and sambalpuri songs in her nice voice. Singer & Dhol specialist Mr.Hruda Ranjan Pradhan & his team with great support from Shri Mantu Mahapatra sang several popular sambalpuri songs which was enjoyed by the audience. At the end all the members participated in the Sambalpuri folk dance (Rangabati, Dalkhai etc.) played by the DJ.

About 175 people from various fields residing in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai & Pune attended the  Nuakhai Bhetghat.

As a whole Nuakhai 2010 by POP-Mumbai was a grand success  with bigger participation than the previous year. The organising comeettee of POP-Mumbai announced that Nuakhai Bhetghat - Mumbai 2011will be their 5th Anniversary and they will make it a Grand one with Sambalpuri folk dance performance by troupe from Paschim Odisha. A souvenir with articles on Sambalpuri art & culture and contact details of member will be published on the said occasion. Thus a stronger core committee was announced with 20 members on the board which will work hard to make the Nuakhai Bhetghat - Mumbai 2011 as a Grand Event.
