Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Mumbai: Odias in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai gathered last week to felicitate eminent cinema actor and director Sadhu Meher who was recently honoured with the Padma Shi award by the central government.
More than 100 people graced the function organised at Odisha Bhawan in Vashi, Navi Mumbai as Meher took the audience through selected experiences from his more than 40-year career which has seen him acting in classics including Ankur and Mrigaya.
Meher, who won a national award for best actor for Ankur, has also directed several documentaries and Odia films. Born in Odisha, Meher has been living in Mumbai for the past close to 50 years.
Geoscientist Rabi Bastia, a Padma Shri himself, felicitated Meher at the ceremony. The organisers were led by Bibhuti Rath, a corporate professional, Dr Prasant Mohanty of Navi Mumbai.
