By Satya Brahma Orissa Chief Naveen Patnaik is playing his cards close to his chest in the Presidential Nominee of India's biggest Constitutional Post. Patnaik's tryst with destiny changed while he was in London & back home, his mentor was plotting to topple him. Though the coup failed, but the fire has not, for more than 40 odd MLA's are still not contended with the style of leadership of Naveen given his fame not to entertain the MLA's. He is a CM with a difference, difference because he can't speak in Odiya, his mother tongue, yet commands the leadership & is admired by the masses & feared by the party.
Many feel that he has a clean image, but not really given the host of scams. His open support to Posco against the wishes of many is a serious question mark. Lets not forget the famous Rahul's address in Niyamgiri when he said that he is the leader of Dalits & is fighting for their justice in Delhi.
P.A. Sangma, the tribal leader of Manipur, the self proclaimed Presidential Nominee is backed by Naveen Patnaik & J Jayalalita, the tamilnadu CM. While it is perceived that Naveen prevailed upon Jayalalita to support Sangma, the former has a hidden agenda.
Naveen knows that Odisha has a majority of Adivasi & tribal population & are often neglected. The rise of Maoists & naxals can be attributed to the fact that Nabin Patnaik Government has done nothing to them since his ascendency to power. Worse, his own MLA in the tribal area of the State Jina Hikaka was abducted much to the discomfiture of the Naveen Administration.
The point is very clear. He wants to give a message to the tribal & Adivasi population in Orissa that he is supporting a Tribal Leader for the Presidential Nominee given the Loksabha elections in 2014 is nearing. He has no national ambitions & is contended with the regional aspiration.
