Report by Ashok Palit, Bhubaneswar: Noted Odiya writer Dr. Hrushikesh Panda will get the prestigious Sarala Award 2012 for his novel 'Garva Karibara Katha' and overall literary achievements. The award, which carries a cash reward of Rs.2.5 lakh along with a citation, will be presented to Dr.Panda at a function here on October 26. Two more notable personalities of Odisha will be honoured for their valuable contribution in their respective fields.
They include noted 'Mardal Badak' Banamali Maharana and Social worker Padma Charan Nayak. Both would receive a cash award of Rs.51,000 each along with citations. A special function would be held here on October 26 to felicitate Dr. Panda along with the two other awardees. CentralSahitya Academy Vice-President Vishwanath Prashad Tewari will be the Chief Guest of the Sarala Award function.
The Sarala Award was instituted in 1979 by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT),a charitable wing of IMFA Group,a fully integrated producer of ferro alloys in India. The annual Sarala Award is recognised as the foremost literary award in Odisha to glorify Odia literature. The IMPaCT also presents 'Ekalabya Award' every year to promising sports talents
