Report by Pravuprasad Routray, Bhubaneswar: Music director Anandji Virji Shah received Akshaya Samman. Anandji received the award form Tourism Minister Maheswar Mohanty and Agricultre Minister Debi Prasad mishra.
Akshaya Samman was conferred to Anandji on the occasion of birth anniversary of legendary Odia singer & musician Akshay Mohanty, popularly known as Khoka bhai.
Earlier Anandji was selected for the sixth Akshaya Samman-2012 by the Akshaya Mohanty Foundation. Anandji has scored music in as many as 250 films and has introduced new talents like Manohar Udhas, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yajnik, Sadhana Sargam, Sapna Mukherjee and Sunidhi Chauhan.
The Akshaya Samman, which is given for lifetime contribution to music or literature, carried a cash award of Rs one lakh along with a special letter of appreciation.
The last four recipients of the samman are Manna De, Gulzar, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Ilayaraja and Asha Bhonsle.
