Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s promising athlete Purnima Hembrum has been selected in the national squad to represent the country in the fourth coming Asian Junior Athletic Championship to be held at Colombo from June 9 to 12. The Indian Team would leave New Delhi on June 6.
Hemram bagged gold medal (4810) with new meet record in heptathlon event and a bronze medal in 4X100 meter relay in the 11th Federation Cup Junior National Athletic Meet held at Pune from May 8 to 10.
She also grabbed medal in National Federation Cup Athletic Meet at Patiala from April 21 to 24. Earlier in 2011, she won silver medal (4953) in heptathlon event in 51st National Championship held at Kolkata in September 12, 2011. Hemram not only a talented athlete, having bright future and we are having hope that she will make our state proud in the international platform, said Odisha Athletic Association secretary Asirbad Behera.
