Cuttack: Top seeded Md Ashraf, Smaraki Mohanty and Aditi Mohanty bagged the Under-17 boys, girls and Under-7 girls titles respectively in the State Under-7 and Under-17 Chess Championship, which concluded at Kalinga Bharati Residential College on the outskirt of the city here yesterday.
Earlier on Sunday, Rishav Anand won the under-7 boys crown. Ashraf scored 8.5 points from nine rounds, while Asian School champion Smaraki stood first with 5.5 points from six rounds. Aditi topped the table in Under-7 girls category with 5.5 points
The top five boys and two girls would represent Odisha in the U-7 National Chess Championship to be held at Puducherry from July 15 to 24.
Similarly, top two finishers in the Under-17 boys and girls category would represent the state in the forthcoming U-17 National Championship to be held in Uttar Pradesh from July 16 to 25. Altogether 200 players, including 30 rated players had participated in the meet.
