Bhubaneswar: Odia girl Shriyanka Sadangi has made the state proud once again by winning gold in 10m Air Rifle women individual event and silver medal in the team event at the Junior International Shooting Championship-2012 held at Suhl in Germany on Friday. Shriyanka scored 398 out of 400 in the qualification round and 500.9 in the final to clinch the gold. Last week at the 22nd Meeting of Shooting Hopes at Plzen, Czech Republic she had scored 398 out of 400 and had won the Bronze medal in the team event. She had won bronze medal in the team event at the 22nd Meeting of Shooting Hopes at Plzen in Czech Republic last week. 17-year-old Shriyanka has brought laurels for Odisha and India by winning medals in 10 m Air Rifle Precision Shooting in numerous national and international competitions.She had won two silver medals in Individual and Team events in Arab Women’s Shooting Championship-2012 held at Sharjah on February 8-9 this year. She had won a silver medal in the 10m Air Rifle Women’s Junior Team category in the final of the 12th Asian Shooting Championship at Doha, Qatar on January 16 this year and Gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle team event In the Asian Air-Gun Championship held at Kuwait in October 2011. A trainee of ‘Gun of Glory’ Institute at Pune, Shriyanka made her international debut in 2009 at Suhl (Germany), where she finished fourth in the ISSF Super Cup Junior International Championship. In the year 2011, she won two Gold medals in junior and senior category of North Zone Shooting Championship; one silver and two bronze medals in the 55th National Shooting Championship; and two Gold medals in the junior and senior category of Haryana State Rifle Championship. Born to Colonel Sitanshu Charan Sadangi and Sudha Sadangi, Shriyanka considers Olympic Gold medalist Abhinav Bindra as her role model and aims to emulate Bindra's historic feat in future.
