New Delhi: The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has sanctioned Rs. 3,86,30,000/- to the Government of Odisha for conducting the Lower Level Rural Competition during 2012-13 under the Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA).

Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme under which the Central Govt. provides financial assistance to States and Union Territories for development of basic sports infrastructure and maintenance of playfields at Village Panchayat and Block Panchayat Level all over the country and also for conducting Sports Competitions at Block Level, District Level, State Level and National Level. Under the Scheme, which was introduced in 2008-09, 51,759 village panchayats and 1,538 block panchayats have been covered during the last four years (2008-09 to 2011-12) for development and maintenance of playfields.
