Bhubaneswar: Odisha's new cricketing sensation Rasanara Parabin, who was included in the Indian team for next month's ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, was accorded a rousing reception at Bolangir, her home town today.
On her arrival from Cuttack, the off-break bowler was taken on a procession in a well-decorated open jeep. Large number of cricket lovers greeted Rasanara with garlands, bouquets and wished her all success in the World Cup.
``I was overwhelmed with the love and affection showered on me by people of Bolangir. This is sure to inspire me do well in the World Cup,'' said Rasanara.
``Rasanara has made Bolangir and Odisha proud. It would have been a double delight for us if Madhuri Meheta too was picked by the National selectors,'' said Mahaveer, fan of Madhuri and Rasanara. Madhuri, who also belongs to Bolangir and played three international matches earlier this year, failed to make it to the 14-member final team this time. Earlier yesterday, Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera congratulated Rasanara and handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh as incentive at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack.
