Report by Orissadiary correspondent; Bhubaneswar : The All Odisha Deprived Unaided College Employees’ Co-Ordination Committee threatened of mass suicide if their demand of providing block grant to 41 colleges (established between 1995 and 2005) is not fulfilled.
The Committee in a release said the long lasting demand of 662 un-aided colleges to provide Block grants was fulfilled by the state government.
The State Government has declared to provide Block Grant to those colleges that have been established from 1990 EAD to 1998 EAD and up to 2000 in EBD.
As a result, the un-aided colleges established from 1999 to 2005 and eligible in 2008 have been deprived.
Disappointed with the decision of the State Government, the organization is on a dharna since 2nd January .
A hunger strike was also held from 7th February for a week.
The hunger strike was called off when the State Government to consider their case in the next Cabinet meeting. But the matter has not been discussed in the last cabinet held on Sunday.
So it has decided that the employees would commit mass suicide, said convener of the Committee Pabitra Mohan Mishra.
