Bhubaneswar: Orissa government has asked the new management committee of the colleges to ensure peaceful polls. The students' union elections are scheduled to be held in all colleges across the state on September 23, while the poll process will begin from September 12. The filing of nomination and scrutiny would be held on September 16, while the list of the valid nominations would be published the next day.
Commissioner-cum-secretary of the higher education department M S Padhi has asked the sub-collectors and additional district magistrate, the new chairmen of the management committee of the colleges to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful manner.
He was addressing a meeting of the sub-collectors and the ADMs of Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal districts here. The government has dissolved the management committees of all aided colleges in the state and appointed the sub-collectors and ADMs as the head of the management in the colleges in their respective areas.
