Hyderabad: The HMDA has taken the initiative to protect the Hussain Sagar Lake from Plastics by declaring the Hussain Sagar Lake surroundings as “Plastic Free Zone”. To support the initiative, the Ecological Thread Forum Deloitte Corporate Organisation has organized the Impact Day on the Necklace Road on 11-6-2010.

The programme is inaugurated by Sri. Sunil Kumar Gupta, IFS, Member Environment, HMDA and Mrs. Kuruna Gopal. All the participants took the pledge by signing on the large cloth banner. The Member Environment while addressing the group said that the initiative taken by Deloitte should motivate many more corporate organizations in Hyderabad and support the various initiatives taken by the HMDA for protecting the Hussain Sagar Lake.

The day long programme included the cleaning of the Lake Shore Area by the Employees of Deloitte along with the Lake Subraks, lake walk on the necklace road, planting. At the end of the day Deloitte has distributed the uniforms to the lake subraks and cleaners as a token of recognition of their work. The programme is also attended by Sukuki Exnora, NGO.
