Bhubaneswar: A girl, who has gone for Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS), has expressed immense happiness. I feel much more comfortable now and feel like I was born again. I feel free and now nobody can force me to marry anyone. I want to be a man because this society gives importance to men over women. Women in our society are not respected and their ideas are not respected either, she said. SRS is a common term for Genital Reassignment Surgery or Genital Reconstruction Surgery. The girl who denied her identity, said that from her school days, she wanted to meet boys than girls.
I have more boyfriends and I enjoy their company, the beaming girl added. Dr Akshya Kumar Rout of the Vivekananda Hospital, who operated on her, said that she will be able to have sex but will not be able to produce off springs. Another sexologist said that a female to male transgender cannot achieve natural erections.
