Report by Santanu Ganguly, New Delhi: Controversial model Gehana Vasisth was arrested today morning by the Pune police from her residence at Oshiwara near Lokhandwala in suburban Mumbai and taken to the Deccan Gymkhana Police Station where an FIR has been registered against her for insulting the national flag under the National Flag Act.
 
The Deccan Gymkhana police will produce her in a local magistrate’s court for remand on Sunday morning before the holiday court, said Sr Inspector of Deccan Gymkhana police station Manohar Joshi. It is not sure if the offences or sections applied are bailable at the time of filing this report and there is a possiblility that Gehana Vasisht may have to spend at least 3 days in police custody as Sunday and Monday are public holidays. The bail formalities could take more time, it is learnt. Rajesh Singh, Gehana Vasisth’s manager said that they will apply for bail immediately as she has absolutely no criminal record and this case has been registered under pressure from a political party.

The Deccan Gymkhana - Pune city police had procured a warrant for the arrest of Gehana Vasisth, after the latter absconded and did not attend the police station in spite of summons being issued to her for her appearance.

This is the first time a model has been arrested for a controversial photo shoot. While Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra have been releasing their nude photos almost every week, no
action has been taken against them.

For the last three weeks, Gehana Vasisth has been running from the long arm of the  law and police claim that they are very close to arresting her. “She had promised to surrender at the police station on 6th August and had requested for two days time as she was shooting,
however, since she failed to surrender, we have sent a team to Mumbai to arrest her,” Senior Inspector Manohar Joshi of the Deccan Gymkhana police station had told the media on Friday.

A political outfit had filed a complaint against Gehena Vasisth for insulting the National Flag and National Honor.
