Jaipur: Governor Smt. Margaret Alva, made a surprise visit to the heavy- rain affected areas of Jaipur today. She interacted with the sufferers and directed the administration to provide all possible help.
While talking to the slum dwellers of the affected areas in Madrampura Basti, she enquired about the persons who have lost their homes due to heavy rains and availability of food and drinking water to residents of the Basti.
Thereafter, Smt. Alva went to the temporary shelters at Muhana and talked to the public there. She directed the administration to ensure that every arrangements is made to pump out the water logging these bastis and also to make arrangements for supply of food and drinking water to the affected persons. She also stated that the situation is being reviewed and analyzed by the Government so that suitable relief arrangements could be made.
Ms. Alva appreciated the efforts of the officers, the Mayor and the MP in getting the bastis evacuated overnight and lodging the affected people in temporary shelters with availability of food and drinking water. Governor stated that she would try to go to every affected basti.
During the visit Shri Mahesh Joshi, MP; Smt Jyoti Khandelwal, Mayor, JMC; Shri Madhukar Gupta, Divisional Commissioner, Jaipur; Shri B.L. Soni, Police Commissioner, Jaipur; Shri Naveen Mahajan, Collector, Jaipur and other officers of the district administration and police were present.
