Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that state’s people will not poverty-stricken and miserable. The State Government is working with the same ethos. He directed the Water Resources Department to conduct survey for construction of road alongside the canal in the command area. Shri Chouhan was addressing 60 presidents of Water Users Associations of Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli and Tikamgarh districts here today.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the State Government has implemented several schemes for farmers’ welfare. A number of facilities have been provided. Irrigation facility was increased from seven lakh hectares to 22 lakh hectares last year. Irrigation was made available in 30-35 thousand hectare area this year from Bansagar. There is a target to irrigate 70 thousand hectares area this year and one lakh 20 thousand hectares area next year. He informed that Rewa division will be one the developed irrigated areas in the country. Irrigation facility will be available from Narmada to Ganga basin.
On the occasion, president of Water Users Association, Govindgarh Shri Chandikeshwar Singh Tiwari threw light on the problems and achievements of the association. He informed that excellent works have been carried out for construction of field channel water course under the Sahastra Dhara Yojna.
