Chandigarh: In order to further streamline the existing public transport services in Punjab, the state government has directed the officers of the department to ensure hassle free service to the daily commuters.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the government said that with a view to providing quality public transport facilities to the people of the state, about one hundred new buses of Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) would be on road very soon and for this purpose corporation had already invited the tenders for fabrication of these buses bodies’ before October 22.

Spokesman further said that adding 55 seated these one hundred new buses, the total fleet strength of PRTC would be reached at almost 1150 buses. At present PRTC has near 1050 buses in its fleet including 700 ordinary, two Integral coaches, 59 HVAC, 249 kilo meter scheme buses and 11 Integral coaches under kilo meter scheme.
