Report by India Education bureau, Lucknow: On the directives of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, 16 engineers of the Power Department were suspended with immediate effect. Suspended officers include three superintending engineers and 13 executive engineers. Besides, strict action against Mr. Ved Prakash Sharma, who retired from the Power Distribution Division, Firozabad on July 31, 2012 has also been recommended.
These engineers have been found guilty of dereliction of duty, failing to meet the revenue targets set for them and not taking interest in redressal of people's problems. The Chief Minister reviewed the works of the Power Department at the Secretariat Annexe here today. During the review meeting, the Chief Minister issued directives to improve the power situation on priority and warned officers that callousness in work would not be tolerated at any cost.
Mr. Yadav also asked officers to provide better services to consumers, expedite revenue realisation and effectively stop power theft. He said his government was committed to improving the power supply and distribution in the state and underlined the need of improving the power scenario. He said that the government would do everything it can to improve the power situation.
The suspended officers include superintending engineers of Saharanpur, Ghazipur and Sitapur Power Distribution Divisions respectively. They are — Mr. RP Singh, Mr. PK Arnia, and Mr. Anil Kumar Sharma. Amongst the suspended executive engineers are Mr. Pawan Kumar Agarwal of Aloo Mandi, Kesco Ltd. Kanpur, Mr. Ashok Sundaram of the Power Distribution Division 3 Badaun of the Madhyanchal Power Distribution Nigam Ltd., Mr. Sandeep Kumar of Power Distribution Division I Bareilly and Mr. Ram Niwas Singh of the Labh Kendra, Shahjahanpur.
The executive engineers, who have been suspended, include Mr. Shyam Bali Ram of Dumariyaganj Vidyut Vitran Khand, Mr. Ram Asrey Prasad Vidyut Vitran Khand 2 of Basti and Mr. RD Singh of the Vidyut Vitaran Khand 3 Jaunpur of the Poorvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd. Varanasi.
Mr. Pramod Kumar of the Vidyut Vitran Khand 3 Bulandshahr, Mr. Om Pal of the Vidyut Vitran Khand Jahangirabad and Mr. Sarvesh Khare of the Vidyut Vitran Khand Baraut of Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd Meerut.
Mr. Sahdev Singh of the Vidyut Vitran Khand 2 Hathras, Mr. Desh Raj Singh Soni of Vidyut Vitran Khand Farukkhabad and Mr. Kulbhushan Gupta of Vidyut Vitran Khand 1 Etawah of Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd, Agra,.
Present at the review meeting were Chief Secretary Mr. Javed Usmani, Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Rakesh Garg, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Anand Mishra, Secretary Energy Mr. Sanjay Prasad, MD of Power Corporation Mr. AP Mishra and other senior officers.
