Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Saturday transferred 56 Block Development Officers (BDOs).

A notification to this effect was issued by the Panchayat Raj Department. It has been considered that keeping the possible mid-term election in mind, the State Government went on such a large scale transfer.

The Panchayat Raj Department had a brain storming exercise before going ahead with such a massive transfer. Two days, back the State Government also transferred senior level OAS officials including Sub-Collectors and Additional District Magistrate (ADM)

Noticably, effective implementation of Government's policies solely depend upon functioning of BDOs.
