Dhinkia: Social activist Medha Patkar, cold shouldered by residents of a village in the site of the proposed South Korean company POSCO's steel mega project in Orissa's Jagatsinghpur district, faced similar treatment at three other villages for the second day on Wednesday.

People of Govindapur, Patana and Noliasahi refused to meet the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader, who is against the POSCO project, shut their doors and even showed placards in favour of the Rs 51000 crore project, the largest FDI in the country till date.

Patkar, who had rushed to Kujang yesterday and was scheduled to spend the night at Nuagoan village yesterday, was forced to change her plans due to the cold reception given to her by her erstwhile supporters.

She spent the night here at Dhinkia, considered the bastion of the anti-project movement.

At Govindpur, none of its residents spoke when Patkar visited the village accompanied by some anti-project activists and most of the villagers confined themselves indoors. Only an old man was seen muttering a few words at its outskirts.

A similar scene was witnessed at Patana and Noliasahi where people kept themselves engaged in their daily chores without paying attention to the social activist.
