Bhubaneswar: A total of 35,000 applicants are set to appear in the KIIT Entrance Examination-2008 (KIITEE'08) for admission for only 450 engineering seats on May 3 and 4.
Every year, KIIT University receives quite a number of applications for admission into its engineering programmes, but this year there has been a phenomenal growth in the number of applicants from the length and breadth of the country stretching from Jammu and Kashmir to the Andamans.
As per the university's norms, KIIT fills up 50 per cent of the seats from among the successful candidates of the AIEEE, while the remaining 50 per cent of the seats are filled up through KIIT's own entrance examination KITEE, for which the tests are conducted in specified centres spread over the country and abroad.
Out of 75 examination centres throughout the country, there are 13 for Orissa, and 15,000 students from the State are appearing in the KIITEE this time. An online test facility will be conducted for the candidates from outside the country.
The KIITEE results will be declared on May 20 and the counselling for admission will continue from June 10 to 17 as the 2008-09 session will start from July 1.
